Testimonials
Analytical and critical thinking skills are two essential things that I gained from my time at the University of Edinburgh. More importantly, as my favourite lecturer, Dr. Isabelle Darmon, rightfully said, “Know your stance”. Studying at the University of Edinburgh has taught me to define, argue, and evaluate my stance, especially on environment and society relations.
The programme gave me the opportunity to learn from academics with deep research expertise and industry practitioners who provided insights into the evolving financial landscape. The use of case studies, hands-on projects, and exposure to current issues in fintech allowed me to explore how data and technology can be applied to solve complex financial challenges.
As one of few prominent law schools offering a technology-related program, it provides an uncontested platform to gain a better understanding of the legal aspects of technology applications—including E-commerce, artificial intelligence, and big data—many of which are unregulated or under-regulated. The valuable insights on how to take legal approaches to it, is a forte of this program.
Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) also has their own climate action network, named ECAN (ESALA Climate Action Now). I was lucky to be involved with the group, first as a volunteer, and in my final year as a co-convenor alongside tutors. The blended format of the ECAN working group encourages a shared platform for students to work with staff, reducing hierarchy in the work produced.
One of the most exciting and distinctive aspects of the Creative Industries programme is our partnering with cultural and creative organisations on live case studies to solve real world challenges so that students are able to develop their leadership and collaborative skills.
