IFP Induction Details and International Check-In

The IFP induction will take place at the University's Holyrood Campus from Monday 8 September at 9:30am BST. The induction will continue until Friday 12 September.

*Please note: It is essential that all IFP students attend all planned events during induction week to ensure they're adequately prepared for the first week of classes.

Teaching Block 1 classes will begin the week commencing Monday 15 September 2025.

International Check-In

All IFP students must complete an international check-in as soon as possible after arriving in Edinburgh.

Industrial Action During Welcome Week

As you may be aware, the University and College Union (UCU) has recently voted to participate in industrial action.

This means that strikes will take place at the University on the following dates in September 2025:

Monday 8, Tuesday 9, Wednesday 10, Thursday 11 and Friday 12 September (Welcome Week)

The University recognises and respects the right of staff to take part in industrial action.

We do not anticipate the planned IFP induction Welcome Week activities to be significantly disrupted, but it's possible an activity could be cancelled at short notice if a staff member is involved in the strike.

You should assume, however, that all activities during this week will continue as normal, unless you are informed otherwise by the IFP team. This means that you should plan to attend all scheduled activities.

Please note that the Centre for Open Learning will remain open during the strike action, and we will do everything possible to avoid disruption to learning and teaching throughout this period.

Message from Tatiana - IFP Student Adviser

Hello! My name is Tatiana, and I’m one of the Student Advisers in the Student Support team here at the University's Centre for Open Learning.

My team is a key part of the support network at the University and is your first point of contact for any enquiries allowing us to connect you to a range of student services. You can contact us when various circumstances affect your life and studies. It's important to seek advice at the earliest opportunity to make sure that you get the right support.

We can support, advise and guide you in relation to a range of different matters including (but not limited to): health, wellbeing, learning support, disabilities, finance, funding, and accommodation. We can also signpost you to the most appropriate service or source of support.

We are based in Paterson’s Land, G.17, and can offer meetings – in-person, online or on the phone, and we can also offer advice over e-mail.

IFP Student Accommodation

There are three accommodation options to choose from - two self-catered options and one catered.

Once you have paid your IFP deposit, a member of our accommodation team will contact you with details about how to apply for student accommodation. Once received, a team member will e-mail you an accommodation offer. Please confirm your accommodation offer within 3 days of receipt.
