As a 2026/27 International Foundation Programme student here at the University of Edinburgh, you will be a matriculated University of Edinburgh student with access to all of the same resources, facilities and support services as undergraduate students.

Here is the recording from our info session 'Meet the IFP Teachers', which took place on Wednesday 14 January 2026.

Just a reminder that the 2026/27 IFP course in Teaching Block 1 ‘Foundation Humanities & Social Sciences’ will now be changing to two separate courses.

This means that instead of taking ‘Foundation Humanities & Social Sciences', you will take both 'Introduction to Studying Humanities' and ‘Introduction to Studying Social Sciences’.

Just a reminder that the 2026/27 IFP course in Teaching Block 1 ‘Foundation Humanities & Social Sciences for Art & Design’ will be changing to a choice of two separate courses.

This means that instead of taking ‘Foundation Humanities & Social Sciences for Art & Design', you will have a choice between taking either 'Introduction to Studying Humanities' or ‘Introduction to Studying Social Sciences’.

In this online info session International Foundation Programme (IFP) CAHSS Director Dr Anya Clayworth is joined by two former IFP students and current University of Edinburgh undergraduate students, Kayla and Mason (Moe).

Student Adviser Tatiana Chepelina explains more about the student support on offer throughout the International Foundation Programme here at the University of Edinburgh.

As a student at the University of Edinburgh, in addition to the support services you'll receive as an International Foundation Programme student, you'll have access to all of the same support services and facilities as an undergraduate student including the gym and student clubs known as societies. 

There are hundreds of student societies to choose from, or you can create your own.

Last year, the IFP had a 97% progression rate on to undergraduate study with 94% choosing to stay at the University of Edinburgh.

We welcomed students from 12 world nations (2025/26).
