Join us for a discussion on how art, artists, and art schools are essential to develop new technologies, products, and services. About Professor Melissa Terras MBE FREngMelissa Terras is the Professor of Digital Cultural Heritage within Design Informatics, Edinburgh College of Art. With over 25 years producing award-winning digital projects in the Gallery, Library, Archive, and Museum sector, Melissa’s recent activity has supported others to develop new data-led products and services. Melissa was Director of Creative Informatics, the AHRC funded creative cluster in Edinburgh, and is a founding director of Transkribus, the AI-platform for advanced text recognition. In this inaugural lecture, Professor Terras will discuss her career trajectory, and argue that the creativity held within art schools and their communities is essential for driving forward digital innovation in the UK’s creative industries.
