Overview The historic religious traditions of humankind are being reshaped in our time by the encounter of people of every faith with one another. The past half-century has accelerated this encounter, and the awareness of religious diversity is today part of the experience and consciousness of people throughout the world. This "age of pluralism" is a concomitant of the massive migration of peoples and the emergence of new cultural demographies in which diversity is ever more evident. Encounter with the religious "other" is also amplified by the speed of communications in the Internet age. Yet diversity alone does not constitute pluralism. How has today's multireligious reality created new and more complex societies and cities? How has it given rise to new theological and spiritual perspectives within each religious tradition? What does the term "interfaith" mean in the many contexts of human life and society today? 1: Globalization and Religious Pluralism Professor Diana Eck's first lecture in her Gifford Lecture Series was entitled 'Globalization and Religious Pluralism'. 2: The Civic Perspective: Citizens, Nations, and the Challenges of Religious Pluralism Professor Diana Eck's second lecture in her Gifford Lecture Series was entitled 'The Civic Perspective'. 3: The New Cosmopolis: Cities and the Realities of Religious Pluralism Professor Diana Eck's third lecture in her Gifford Lecture Series was entitled 'The New Cosmopolis: Cities and the Realities of Religious Pluralism'. 4: Religious Views of Religious Pluralism I Professor Diana Eck's fourth lecture in her Gifford Lecture Series was entitled 'Religious Views of Religious Pluralism I'. 5: Religious Views of Religious Pluralism II Professor Diana Eck's fifth lecture in her Gifford Lecture Series was entitled 'Religious Views of Religious Pluralism II'. 6: The Pluralism Within Professor Diana Eck's sixth lecture in her Gifford Lecture Series was entitled 'The Pluralism Within'.
