The Singing the Reformation exhibition, which brings together the 16th century Wode manuscripts, was recently the subject of the Early Music Show on BBC Radio 3. Presenter Caroline Bott dedicated an hour to looking at the Wode Psalter, a hugely significant collection of musical manuscripts, composed by the celebrated Scottish cleric Thomas Wode, that give a fascinating insight into Scottish music-making in the 16th Century. The landmark exhibition, Singing the Reformation, reunited all the manuscripts for the first time in 400 years, as part of a multi-disciplinary project funded by an Arts and Humanities Research Council grant. The manuscripts are on public display, along with a display of 16th Century musical instruments and rare books, until 28th October. The show covered Caroline Bott’s visit to the exhibition and an interview with curator Dr Noel O'Regan, senior lecturer in the Reid School of Music. The show was accompanied by music from the award-winning Dunedin Consort’s recording of the Wode Psalter. iPhone app There is also an iPhone app to accompany the exhibition which is still available. The app allows you to explore in more detail some of the objects that will be on display, examine samples of the transcribed scores from the part books and listen to excerpts of the music.
