Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) staff and graduates celebrate success at the Scottish BAFTAs for the second year running. Film Image Emma Davie, Programme Leader in Film & Television at ECA, won the 2013 Scottish BAFTA Best Director award along with co-director Morag McKinnon for their documentary I Am Breathing, which records the last months of a 34-year-old father's life as he succumbs to motor neurone disease. This is the latest example of the extraordinary critical and audience response to the documentary, directed by Emma and Morag in association with ECA's Scottish Documentary Institute and Danish Documentary Production. Animation Image ECA's Animation graduates continued their BAFTA winning streak with Gavin C. Robinson winning the Scottish BAFTA Animation award for his 2013 film, Hart's Desire, while 2012 graduate Claire Lamond was shortlisted with her animation, Seams and Embers. In the last two years five of the six nominations for the Scottish BAFTA Animation awards have been for recently-graduated ECA students, with both the 2012 and 2013 awards given to ECA graduates. The BAFTAs are incredibly prestigious so this was a great night for ECA, and once again demonstrates the exceptional quality of work produced by our graduates.
