Eight universities from across the UK competed in three rounds at the University of Birmingham, culminating in a judged final between the University of Edinburgh and Manchester Metropolitan University.

We were very proud to represent the College and University, and us winning means that we have the opportunity to hold the championship here in Edinburgh next year, which is an extremely exciting opportunity.

Toby Campion
Captain of the University of Edinburgh's first poetry slam team

The four team members - Toby Campion, Freddie Alexander, Rachel Rankin and Agnes Török - are all undergraduate students who are studying subjects across the College of Humanities and Social Science, including linguistics, English literature, social anthropology and Scandinavian studies.

This is a wonderful achievement from this cross-School team. We hope to see more University of Edinburgh students getting involved in UniSlam.
