Talent clocks in at Three Minute Thesis competition

The winners of the College's Three Minute Thesis heat have been announced.

Nineteen students from a variety of research disciplines were tasked with condensing their three-year research programme into an engaging three-minute presentation.

Language, dance and relationships

The winner was Linguistics and English Language PhD student Maddie Long with her presentation Language and the Brain: The Skye's the Limit.

Second place went to Music PhD student Tomke Kossen-Veenhuis with her presentation Contemporary Dance and Music Collaborations: A Study of Cross-disciplinary Professional Performance.

The People's Choice Award, given to the student with the highest number of audience votes, went to Counselling Studies PhD student Edgar Rodríguez Sánchez for his presentation Understanding gay men's identities through their erotic and romantic relationships.

The next stage

The winners will represent the College of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Edinburgh’s Three Minute Thesis heat on 23 June 2016.
