Academics in art, history, classics and law have received a major funding boost from the Leverhulme Trust. The Trust awarded four academics a Major Research Fellowship, which will allow them to pursue research in their chosen field for three years. Major Fellowships Professor Jo Shaw from the University’s Law School was awarded more than £140,000 for her project entitled Citizenship and Citizenship Regimes: A Global Remapping For The 21st Century. She will begin the project in January 2018. Professor Donald Bloxham from the School of History, Classics and Archaeology has received Leverhulme Trust funding for research that will explore system-atic violence in global history since 1945. Also in History, Classics and Archaeology, Dr Ulrike Roth received a Major Research Fellowship for her project, The Child Face of Roman Slavery. In Edinburgh College of Art, Dr Genevieve Warwick was recognised for her work in Renaissance and Early Modern European art. She will undertake her project – The Mirrors Of Art: Painting And Reflection In The Early Modern World – in September 2017. Further grants Linguistics Lecturer, Dr Chris Cummins has been granted more than £128,000 by the Leverhulme Trust for a two year research project into bilingualism. He will work on the project – Bilingualism, Pragmatic Enrichment and Reasoning Biases – in partnership with Professor Antonella Sorace. Artist in Residence Also in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences, Dr Simon Kirby was awarded Leverhulme Trust funding for a 10-month Artist in Residence post, beginning in February 2017. Ms Hanna Tuulikki is an artist, composer and performer, who works primarily with voice and gesture. Through her work, she creates immersive spaces that combine costume, staging, and sculptural objects, often within unconventional settings. The Leverhulme Trust The Leverhulme Trust was established by the Will of William Hesketh Lever, the founder of Lever Brothers. Since 1925 the Trust has provided grants and scholarships for research and education. Today, it is one of the largest all-subject providers of research funding in the UK, distributing approximately £80m a year.
